About the HC Licence Course

Arrow Heavy Vehicle Training offers an HC truck licence course intended to help you improve your career. In this training, you will learn how to drive:

  • Any type of articulated truck with three or more axles including unladen dolly
  • A Prime mover with one semi-trailer
  • HR vehicle towing a single trailer with a GVM greater than 9 tonnes

They are your local experts who are familiar with some of the most common challenges that heavy vehicle drivers encounter in the area and will teach you how to overcome each of them.

Our HC licence course covers the following:

  • Pre-operational check and cabin drill
  • Trailer coupling and uncoupling
  • Start, move off, shut down and secure
  • Management of steering, gears, brakes and accelerator
  • Create, maintain and protect crash avoidance space
  • Application of road rules and directions
  • Reversing and parking
  • Hill stops and starts
  • Load securing
  • Trailer coupling and uncoupling
  • Final competency assessment

By successfully finishing our course, you will be eligible to receive an HC licence that will prepare you for driving all heavy vehicles covered by this licence.

Requirements

In order to apply for our HC licence course, you are first required to obtain:

  • A class MR or HR licence which you’ve held for at least a year (12 months)
  • Completion of the Roads and Maritime Services drivers knowledge test
  • The HVCBA guidebook to read before the beginning of the training

On your first day, you are expected to arrive with the appropriate paperwork that proves you are an eligible candidate for the HC licence in NSW and present it to the instructor before the official start of your training.
